Good Morning FinTech, February 2
Good day Everyone,
And happy Wednesday! Trust you are well and safe, and hopefully enjoying winter as much as I do. To make your day better, here’s a mix of 3 super interesting FinTech stories I’ve prepared for you today:
Banking Circle acquires Biller in a bid to build a B2B FinTech powerhouse 😎
The scoop 🤝 Banking Circle has acquired Biller, a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) startup for B2B payments. Post-acquisition, Biller will continue to operate as an independent entity, now just under the Banking Circle umbrella. The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Following the acquisition, Biller will become part of Banking Circle Group’s ecosystem and will benefit from immediate access to technology infrastructure, financial resources, and the necessary licenses to accelerate its European expansion.
The USP 🥊 Biller’s AI-driven platform provides a payment service to buyers that want to order online and pay directly, while at the same time, performing real-time credit and fraud checks. In doing so, the service significantly reduces the risk for the seller while at the same time increasing the speed, flexibility, and convenience for the buyer.
An interesting thing is that Biller launched only last summer, and it’s the brainchild of veterans of Klarna and Mollie. The company says its product was built in response to the rapid growth of B2B commerce, which Biller says was inefficient at providing the right product for checkout or added flexibility.
As for Banking Circle, the 8-year-old company is based in Luxembourg and has offices in the U.K., Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark, and works with banks and payments businesses to provide the necessary infrastructure to process international payments in 25 currencies.
Biller further cements Banking Circle’s ambitions to be the B2B FinTech powerful. Someone it has been quietly building as of late. Here’s more to that👇🏼
