Commerce 2.0: a Social Evolution 📲🛍; How much is Bitpanda really worth? 🐼; The future of gaming is being built in Web3 👾
FinTech is Eating the World, 21 October
Hey Everyone,
And good morning from Las Vegas🇺🇸 Because of travels and jet lag, Friday’s issue is coming out today. But it’s definitely worth the wait as we’re going to look at Commerce 2.0, or how social is overtaking it (if you’re a FinTech and you don’t have a Social Commerce strategy already, you are going to be missing out big time), try to see how much is Bitpanda really worth (you will be surprised, I promise! + one bonus read), and why the future of gaming is being built in Web3 (this is going to be a big one!). So let’s jump straight into the interesting stuff:
Commerce 2.0: a Social Evolution 📲🛍
The first piece of news 📰 Swedish Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) FinTech Klarna has launched a Klarna Creator app for retailers and influencers to collaborate on brand campaigns.
Klarna’s creator platform enables more than 500,000 vetted creators’ access to known brands and retailers, with retailers on the app having the option of direct messaging a creator they want to partner with and send them products for content. Additionally, it has a tracking feature for watching sales and commissions and the app is available for desktops, iOS devices, and Android devices.
The second piece of news 🗞 In addition to the above, the BNPL giant also launched another (and maybe - even more interesting) feature - a shoppable video.
The Watch and shop widget enables consumers to access Klarna for video content tailored specifically for shopping and discovering well-known brands’ products.
The feature is already being used by Lady Gaga’s Haus Labs, e.l.f. Cosmetics, and others.
Trendspotting 🔎 The above two developments are a part of a bigger trend - the growth and transition towards social commerce:
TikTok started allowing Shopify’s SHOP 0.00%↑ merchants to add shopping tabs to their profiles and create mini storefronts. It’s also experimenting with live-stream shopping.
Facebook META 0.00%↑ launched Instagram Shop, letting businesses set up storefronts on their pages to sell products featured in posts.
Social media giant Twitter TWTR 0.00%↑ recently partnered with Shopify to expand social shopping features as consumers are increasingly buying through their feeds.
Why is this important? 🤔 It’s yet another illustration that commerce is experiencing a social revolution. Here’s more on that, why it’s going to be big + the takeaway:
