The BIG & Surprising news 🗞️ Western Union WU 0.00%↑, the 174-year-old remittance giant, just announced its strategic entry into the stablecoin market with plans to launch the U.S. Dollar Payment Token on the Solana blockchain in the first half of 2026.
The company will partner with Anchorage Digital Bank, the first federally chartered crypto institution, to issue the dollar-backed stablecoin and establish a comprehensive Digital Asset Network connecting cryptocurrency wallets with Western Union’s extensive network of over 500,000 physical locations worldwide.
