Hey Everyone,

Good morning & happy Wednesday! Today, we’re breaking down Revolut Research to see why the real story here isn't one company's AI lab launch but the fact that Nubank, Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, and Plaid all independently built the same architecture (PRAGMA's technical design and early numbers, the industry convergence, why Ramp's AI-native strategy took a different path, & the proprietary data moat that late movers can't rent their way into + bonus deep dives into PRAGMA & Why We Aren’t Bullish Enough on Revolut inside), and Nvidia's $7B Poolside deal to see how the company that just turned compute into an asset class became the buyer of last resort for its own chips (why Nvidia wants its best models to be FREE, their coding agent built to make GPUs worth more after they ship & the failed $2B raise that explains why NVIDIA BANK exists + bonus deep dives into The AI Monopoly Playbook & The Ultimate Guide to Qwen3.8-27B inside). So let’s just jump straight into the finnovative stuff 🌶️

Revolut Research isn’t an AI Lab. It’s the clearest sign yet that fintech’s ultimate moat is proprietary data 🤖📊

The BIG News 🗞️ FinTech giant Revolut just launched Revolut Research, a dedicated AI research unit, anchored by PRAGMA, a proprietary foundation model trained on behavioral data from 80 million customers across 100+ countries. Early results are more than solid: 2.3x better credit-default detection, 65% more fraud cases caught. Nice!

But the real story here isn’t one company’s lab announcement.

→ Nubank already shipped a near-identical architecture into production.

→ Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, and Plaid each independently built their own version.

→ NVIDIA even published a blueprint so anyone else can follow.

Importantly, none of these efforts were coordinated. So let’s take a closer look at PRAGMA’s technical design, how it compares to every major peer effort, why Ramp took a different path, and the regulatory fault lines forming around proprietary AI in finance.

Because when the fastest-growing digital banks & fintechs independently reach the same architectural conclusion, pay attention.
